STRESS MANAGEMENT

Stress Management at Body and Mind focuses on helping to increase the range or size of your resilience zone.

Resilience zone is a phrase that’s commonly used in the mental health world to describe the state of optimal arousal. It’s the state where you have the most flexibility and adaptability when responding to challenges. This is where growth, learning, and change occurs.  It's also where healing occurs!!

When we’re in our resilience zone we respond to stressors calmly and rationally and the issue seems like no big deal.  When we’re out of our resilience zone we respond to stress in a less than optimal way which often leads to undesirable emotional and physical symptoms.

Your resilience zone often shrinks when you have sustained high levels of stress in your life or  when you’ve incurred a trauma or injury. The good news is that with specific activities it can not only grow again, but can regenerate to an even larger zone than it was previous to the insult. These activities include mediation, breathing exercises, gentle intuitive movement, grounding, increasing awareness of your current environment, somatic processing any many others. The combination of manual therapy techniques used at Body and Mind are all aimed at increasing the resilience zone of both the mind and the body.

How is it Performed?

We use several proven techniques that allow the body to naturally release stress through various outlets:

Neurofeedback with the MUSE Meditation Headband

The MUSE Headband tracks your brainwaves and provides auditory feedback such as peaceful music or ocean waves to stimulate and enhance your mental focus.

Heart Rate Variability Biofeedback with the Inner Balance and EmWave Pro Units

The EmWave Pro and Inner Balance units  track your heart rate variability through your pulse and provide auditory feedback on changes. This enhances your  ability to reduce stress and anxiety by targeting your focus on the sensations of relaxation occurring in your body.

Bilateral Brain Stimulation with the TouchPoint Solutions Unit

The TouchPoint Solutions Unit provides bilateral brain stimulation by having 2 units, one on each wrist, that vibrate alternatively.  This provides feedback to the right and left sides of the brain in an alternating pattern which alters neuro stimulation and effectively helps to reduce stress, improve cognitive function, and induce calming emotions.

Emotional Freedom Technique

The Emotional Freedom Technique is a  revolutionary mind body therapy that uses the key touch points traditionally associated with  acupressure to release emotional and energetic restrictions and improve overall blood circulation and health.

Emotional Center Kinesiology

Emotional Center Kinesiology is a mind body therapy that uses the chakras or energy centers of the body to release negative emotions and move you into a state of well-being.
