GRASTON

What is Graston?

Graston is a form of instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization that has been shown to be very effective at breaking down scar tissue and fascial restrictions. When soft tissue is damaged or distressed it can cause intense pain and inflammation. Graston’s non-invasive instrument assisted manual therapy helps to relieve the affected tissue by releasing the restrictions that cause discomfort. This allows the tissue within the affected area to recover and heal properly, leading to a vast reduction in inflammation and pain. At Body and Mind, we prefer to use the more traditional Gua Sha instruments to perform the same technique as they allow for higher precision and results.

How is it Performed?

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization is performed by using traditional Gua Sha instruments to assess and treat soft tissue dysfunction and restrictions. A practitioner will use the instruments by gently maneuvering the tools over the affected area using an injury-specific technique that allows for the breakdown and release of painful tissue.
