KINESIOLOGY TAPING

What is Kinesiology Taping?

Kinesiology taping is a rehabilitation technique designed to provide muscles and joints with stability and support without restricting movement. This practice uses custom adhesive tape which gently wraps around areas that are inflamed or causing discomfort, and helps to increase blood flow and allows the body to heal properly.

As the tape is applied to the distressed areas, the outer layer of skin is shifted to reduce restrictions on the inner soft tissue. This allows the tissue to receive maximum blood flow and promotes natural recovery. Kinesiology taping in not confining and allows for natural movement to be used while in treatment. This promotes proper tissue regeneration and alignment by allowing the body to heal while in its natural state of mobility.

The application of kinesiology tape can also be used to enhance the treatment of manual therapy and reduce recovery time.

How is it Performed?

This is performed by using specially designed kinesiology tape which applied around the affected area will facilitate the body’s natural healing process by providing gentle soft tissue mobilization.

What Conditions Does it Help Treat?

  • Pain relief

  • Swelling and inflammation

  • Accelerated recovery from contusions and bruises

  • Muscle spasms and cramps

  • Can be used to inhibit a chronically tight muscle

  • Can be used to increase the activation of a weak muscle
