Meditation Classes - Internal Sanctuary

What is your body trying to communicate with you?  Slow down your mind and tune into the sensations inside your body.  Interoception is the perception of sensations from inside the body.  It is central to maintaining homeostasis in everything from your thoughts, your emotions, your decision making, and your sense of self.  Feelings of safety in the body grow as your interoception increases.


The increased internal safety achieved will allow your mind and body the space to process experiences that you have internalized.  Experiences become internalized when you didn't feel safe at the time they occurred or you were too young to fully comprehend the experience. Once the internalized experienced has been processed/reprocessed it can be fully integrated into the mind and body without it having the emotional charge it once did. 

How is it Performed?

Meditation classes will be held in the office.  Heart rate variability biofeedback units and floor meditation chairs will be provided for all participants.  Regular chairs will also be available for those that need them. Participants are also welcome to bring their own cushions, mats, pillows, and blankets, whatever will help you feel comfortable.  Participants will need to bring their own bluetooth compatible phone or tablet to use with the biofeedback units.  Headphones are not required but are strongly recommended.  The session will start with a short discussion and a suggested topic of focus for the day.
